touch my May birthdate
The flavor was also a simple choice: strawberries are always a harbinger of sunny days and summer vacation to me (they also remind me of my birthday - I almost always have something with strawberries to celebrate my May birthdate). Strawberry ice cream, with the strawberries roasted to bring out their flavor. To play up the whimsy of Alessi's bowl, I decided to swirl in some marshmallow creme - it adds a touch of fluffy lightness to the rich, custard-based ice cream. To keep the marshmallow separate from the rest of the ice cream, swirl it in at the very end by hand instead of adding it directly to the ice cream machine - I learned that the hard way!
To make it a proper sundae, I topped the ice cream with some almond praline and Valrhona chocolate pearls. I love adding crunch to ice cream, and I also like how the marshmallow and the chocolate give a subtle neapolitan theme to the sundae.

The Common Ills Iraq snapshot
Monday, July 28, 2014, Chaos and violence continue, rumors swirl that
Nouri might have realized how toxic he is, how many US troops have been
sent back into Iraq, and much more.
Counting is apparently hard for journalism majors. Kristina Wong (The Hill) reported Sunday:
The Obama administration has quietly moved an additional

The additions bring the total number of advisers in the
country to 242, still short of the 300 advisers that President Obama

The Pentagon said 20 additional military advisers recently arrived in
Iraq, bringing total U.S. military personnel there to 825. Pentagon
Daily Devotion Safely On The Plane
Date: Sunday, July 27, 2014
Today's Chapters: Isaiah 25-28
Message Title: Safely On The Plane
When you stop to think about it, salvation is like a one way ticket on a plane to heaven, bought and paid for with the blood of Jesus Christ. Once you get on, there is no turning back, you must ride the flight all the way there, and once you get there, true paradise. Now, I imagine that unless we are seriously ill to the point that it's only a matter of time that God comes to get us, we are not really in a hurry to see Jesus any time soon. Do not worry, Jesus is not offended or saddened by that fact, He loves you and the truth is, He is not done with you here yet, you still have work to do. âYe have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know... (more)
Truth in Love The Point Of No Return
The Point of No Return
Author: Don McGee
In light of recent events centered in

this country will be governed, and it is quite clear that the reason for
their fearful expectation has to do with what they call their âgrowing
loss of liberty.â It might come as a surprise to some readers, but these
people are not all Christians and Bible prophecy teachers.
Many could not quote John 3:16-17 or name even four of the
apostles if their lives depended upon it. They see themselves as regular
people and their voices can be heard at morning coffee klatches all
over this country. They sense that some event is near and their
conviction is that it is ominous.
For students of prophecy the whole thing is very transparent which is
the reason we don't marvel at what is happening, nor do we shake in
fear. God has given... (more)
